John Carpenter set to bring Darkchylde to the big screen

John Carpenter has not had an awesome last few years. Although Ghosts of Mars is one of my guilty pleasures, the man hasn’t made a legit good movie since 1995’s In The Mouth of Madness or, if you’re a stickler, 1988’s They Live. More than anything, I’m hoping he can turn it around with an adaptation of Randy Queen’s Darkchylde, with WETA on tap to do the effecs work.. The comic is about a young Southern girl named Ariel Chylde who is cured to transform into the monsters of her nightmares, which go on to act out all of her “deepest, darkest impulses.”

There’s also a poster involved, as you can see, and I gotta say, the concept is cool, even if the poster is pure B-movie. That said, a certain level of schlock could be what the fallen Master of Horror needs to jumpstart his career. Check out the poster in the gallery.
