Lionsgate has announced that the highly anticipated John Wick: Chapter 4 will be hitting theaters on March 23, 2023. No, that date isn’t a typo: it seems the latest adventure for Mr. Wick has been delayed for quite a bit to ensure he’s ready for combat in full form. After numerous delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a “cancelation” of Chapter 5, fans of Keanu Reeves’ grieving killer will need to strap in for the long game when it comes to his next rodeo.
To curb the wait a bit, a new teaser shows various clerks at The Continental writing the date on a chalkboard while announcing John Wick as excommunicado. I love the in-universe nature of this teaser, even if it gives us nothing concrete about what Chapter 4 will be about…other than John Wick killing people.
While I appreciate an update on the progress of this film, I could have gone the rest of 2021 without wondering when Reeves would be saddling up for destruction again. With The Matrix Resurrections having just been released today globally, it’s not like we’re lacking for more Keanu in our lives. It just would have been awesome to see Keanu go up against himself at the box office like the original plan was.
