By We haven’t had the chance to see how Jon M. Chu handles action thanks to G.I. Joe: Retaliation being delayed because of NEEDS MOAR TATUM, but it looks like it’s given him enough cred to jump onto another big budget, action film. Chu is in talks to direct the upcoming Masters of the Universe, the film based on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
I assume at the beginning of these talks he walked into the room and shouted “I have the pooooooowwwer!” That would win me over if I was a studio exec.
Masters of the Universe has been floating around in development for a while now, but thanks to a strong screenplay it looks like Sony and Escape Artists are pushing forward. No word if the film will play closer to the original film, the old cartoon or the modern one. Whatever it does Chu just better remember that people demand more Channing Tatum, even if he isn’t in the movie.
