In what has been a relentless stream of news from Disney, in a massive dump of new upcoming shows and release dates related to the MCU, one film stood out above all of the rest. In a quick, six-second teaser, Marvel has begun to slowly pull back the curtain on its planned Fantastic Four film, specifically that Jon Watts will direct it. We’ve known that Marvel was looking to integrate the property into the MCU, but it looks like it’s going to be sooner than later.

Watts, as most Marvel fans will know, has been killing it recently by directing the Spider-Man films Homecoming and Far From Home and is currently directing a still-untitled third film. Curiously the film’s title was not announced during Disney’s massive investor’s call, something made even stranger by the large info dump the movie received earlier this week, but that’s neither here nor there. It looks like once Watts has finished working on the untitled end for the trilogy he’ll move right along to Fantastic Four. Will he have more luck than Roger Corman or Josh Trank? Only time will tell.
No release date has been announced for Fantastic Four, but it is still confirmed to be a part of Marvel’s Phase 4.
