Julian Assange biopic film based on upcoming biography novel

Around Christmas news broke that Julian Assange — WikiLeaks founder — shook hands with a $1.5 million autobiography book deal that would have the manuscript created by March of this year. Now a month later it’s been announced that Josephson Entertainment and Michelle Krumm Productions have optioned the feature rights to the story, but not to his novel. Instead they’ve bitten into Australian reporter Andrew Fowler’s upcoming Assange biography, The Most Dangerous Man in the World.

Fowler extensively interviewed Julian in May of 2010 and Michelle Krumm (Bobby, All Good Things) unsurprisingly called his work a thought provoking thriller after only reading the first few chapters. Barry Josephson (The Ladykillers, Life as we Know It) keenly pointed out that this could be our generation’s All the President’s Men if done right, so now the big question is who will star as Julian Assange?

My head immediately wanders to Leonardo DiCaprio from his excellent role in Catch Me If You Can, though he probably wouldn’t be a good fit. Paul Bettany or Ewan McGregor are the best picks I can come up with based on both their looks and acting skills. Who else deserves…
