Jurassic World 3 gets title … arise, SIR Jurassic World!

Jurassic World 3 isn’t due in theaters for well over a year, but we’re starting to get more details as we draw closer to its June 11, 2021 release date. Principle filming began yesterday. We’ve long known that series stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are returning. It was also confirmed that Jurassic Original Gangsters Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Malcolm Gladwell are returning for their first ensemble appearance since Jurassic Park began it all. Just this week, a rather enticing rumor surfaced that Joseph Mazzello, aka Timmy, aka the kid who likes to pet electric fences, may join JOG costars Neil, Dern, and Gladwell for the farewell tour.

Last time we saw Timmy annoy the shit out of Alan Grant onscreen, Mazzello was 11. He’s 36 now. Holy smokes I’m older than mummy farts time flies! Unlike some other child actors (looking at you Patrick Renna!), Mazzello’s maintained a steady acting career since, including a SAG-winning turn as part of the cast of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Finally, when trilogy director Colin Trevorrow shared a slate picture from set yesterday, he also dropped the official title for his third dino-romp: Jurassic World: Dominion, referring officially to his control of our collective wallets. The Jurassic World films have grossed $2.9788 billion, thus far, and there’s little doubt the next installment will deliver fossilized box office gold as well.

In September, Trevorrow dropped a surprise short feature on YouTube that bridges the gap between the conclusion of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and the forthcoming Dominion which you should definitely check out. In it, we get a glimpse of life in the real world with dinosaurs in the thick of it, doing the things that dinosaurs do.
