These poor fellas just can’t get away from dinosaurs, can they? Per Deadline, the third Jurassic World movie will feature the characters of Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm, as played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, respectively. The news was confirmed at a screening of the prelude short film Battle at Big Rock.
Stars of Jurassic World and the sequel Fallen Kingdom, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, will return alongside the original trio. Goldblum appeared in the first Jurassic Park, its sequel The Lost World, and made brief appearances in Fallen Kingdom. Meanwhile, Neill was the protagonist of Jurassic Park III while Dern had a minor role in that film.
Co-writer of all three Jurassic World films and Star Wars reject Colin Trevorrow will return to direct this third film after helming the first. This new film is focusing on the aftermath of Fallen Kingdom, which let the surviving dinosaurs loose into the world. At the same time, organizations around the world have figured out how to cook up their own dinosaurs, leading Trevorrow to use the phrase “open source dinosaurs,” which is hilarious.
The threequel is still scheduled to hit theaters on June 21, 2021. Hopefully the original characters will have larger roles than cameos.
