Warner Bros. is accelerating development of the Justice League movie, aiming for a 2015 release. This news came just a day after a judge ruled in Warner Bros.’s favor regarding the rights to Superman. (The heirs of Superman co-creator Joe Shuster were denied their bid for a 50% rights share in the Man of Tomorrow.) If the Justice League movie is release as planned, it would come out the same year as the second Avengers film.
Warner Bros. plans to release the Justice League movie first and then spin out characters into their own film franchises. This is obviously a reversal of the mighty Marvel movie plan and confirms rumors that the rebooted Batman would debut in the JLA movie.
The script is still in progress, no director is attached, and there’s no word on the Justice League roster we’ll see on screen. Similarly, it’s unclear if this Justice League will feature DC Comics’s New 52 versions of the characters. Personally, I’m rooting for the classic big seven line-up: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman.
