I’m not the most knowledgeable comic book fan, but if I had any focus, it would be DC Comics due to their awesome cartoons I had growing up. And while I’ve been sad they’re gone now, DC is currently trying to get back to their prime. As their direct to home video animated releases slowly get better and better (with WB giving the attention necessary to make them any good), Warner Bros is focusing them in order to create a set of films that all fit in to one another rather than their current model of every film being their own thing.
For instance, Justice League: War is adapted from the New 52 story “Justice League: Origin,” and is the first film after Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox rebooted the whole thing. Acccording to an interview with Comic Book Resources, James Tucker, a producer for multiple DC animated films says to expect more films in line with War:
This will definitely be the first salvo in doing new movies that are in continuity with each other. Our next movie’s going to be ‘Son of Batman,’ and that Batman will be the same Batman that you see in ‘Justice League: War.’ Basically, we’ll have two concurrent series of Justice League movies and Batman movies, and they’ll be in continuity with each other. So it’s kind of world-building.
While this all sounds very confusing to non-comic book fans, this’ll be the closest thing we get to having Justice League Unlimited again. I’m pretty excited.
