Last week a big batch of images from Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master surfaced, but we were asked to remove them for the time being. In lieu of those, here’s a second poster for The Master, which is like the cast members viewed through a kaleidoscope or by the unfortunate fellow from the 1958 version of The Fly. It makes for another striking image like the first poster for The Master.
In related news, you may have heard that there was a surprise screening of The Master over the weekend. Last Friday night, a lucky audience at the Aero in Santa Monica was treated to the film after a screening of The Shining. The buzz for The Master has been extremely positive, with raves for Anderson and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams. I’m hesitant to read any detailed accounts of the film, but the hype is getting me even more excited than I already was. (I’ll be there at a midnight show dressed liked this.)
Check out the new poster in the gallery. The Master premieres in Venice on September 1st, then screens at the Toronto International Film Festival, and will open in limited theaters on September 14th.
