You know that strange feeling you get when very optimistic announcements don’t seem at all grounded in reality? Mark Millar has told The Daily Record a bunch of interesting, yet slightly implausible things about his collaborations with Matthew Vaughn. Apparently, the plan is for the two of them to shoot Kick-Ass 2 this summer, as well as an adaptation of another of Millar’s comics, American Jesus. Then, he and Vaughn will start working on Secret Service, about a stupid James Bond-type character.
That all sounds well and good, if not for one thing: Matthew Vaughn has committed to making a sequel to X-Men: First Class, and you know that has to be a much bigger priority than all these projects with Mark Millar. With the fast-tracked production it’s likely to get, there might be scheduling conflicts with Kick-Ass 2. Miller might be overly optimistic right now, and it’s not unheard of for him to be wrong about his projects; he claimed Kick-Ass 2 was greenlit back in 2010, though it wasn’t. Fans of the first Kick-Ass might want to hold off on the excitement until we see more proof.
