The Streaming Wars continue. With the Criterion Channel still going strong in its curation of classics and art films, Disney+ a smash hit, and every special interest production company or distributor starting up their own service, consumers are flooded to the point of frustration with streamable motion picture content.
And this March, Netflix isn’t making your decisions any easier.
With continuing originals like Altered Carbon and Narcos: Mexico making their returns alongside new original content like I Am Not Okay With This, February was quiet for Netflix subscribers, but not desolate. This month the service looks to churn out some major names, hopefully to satisfy everyone, if not a little.
Notable additions include the third season of Castlevania, releasing just tomorrow, March 5th. The animation adapting Konami’s classic games has been met with a positive reception from gamers and critics, evident in its continued production.
On March 6th, Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke lead the buddy crime film Spenser Confidential for what looks like an Elmore Leonard-tinged romp. Later in the month, the Korean period drama (with zombies!) Kingdom returns for a second season on the 13th, with more Altered Carbon on the 19th in the form of Altered Carbon: Resleeved, a feature length animated film.
At the end of the month the third season of the Jason Bateman-led crime drama Ozark returns, in what is perhaps the biggest name of the month for Netflix. See below for the full list of titles.

As an intensive filmgoer and casual TV-watcher (I haven’t even seen Chernobyl yet!) I understand that, perhaps, I’m simply not Netflix’s target audience with the barrage of foreign acquisitions and original productions the service is looking to add this month. Certainly there are movies to be seen here, but in a sea of content, nothing jumps out at me immediately.
We’ve become so oversaturated with things to watch, it’s a struggle sometimes for the truly great little documentary or intriguing drama series to cut through the content and command an audience’s attention.
Hopefully March has some diamonds in the rough.
