Yesterday marks a dark day for the filmmaking business. Kodak, the biggest supplier of motion picture film, filed for bankruptcy. It’s hardly surprising, really. The shift over to digital filmmaking, and the cost savings therein, was the biggest battle the company fought in its century-long rule as the #1 choice for film.
Even though Kodak is down, they’re not out just yet. They will be reorganizing in bankruptcy court to figure out new business plans and try to stay a company. My advice to them is to focus on digital media storage. It would mean a complete change in business though, going from a film company to a technology company. But I think it could be done.
