Koko-di Koko-da sounds like bizzaro Groundhog Day and also features a sinister cat in a bow tie

Dark Star Pictures has nabbed the North American rights to a movie that has my interests super piqued. From Swedish director Johannes Nyholm, Koko-di Koko-da sounds bizarre in all the very best ways.

With what the IMDB description dubs a “maelstrom of psychological terror and humiliating slapstick” (yes please!), the film follows a couple that’s on the rocks after a camping trip ends in food poisoning apparently bad enough to derail the pair’s entire lives (we’ve all been there). They try to patch their relationship by going camping again three years later, but they find the events of the previous trip continue to repeat themselves, and the two will have to reconcile their traumas and fight for their lives to escape.

Sounds cool to me–though this does nothing to tell me where the kickass cat in a bow tie comes into play. Look at him all giant and gorgeous, sinister and adorable. Why this movie stars anyone but the cat remains a mystery to me.

Koko-di Koko-da will hit Fantastic Fest and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival this year with theatrical, VOD, and DVD releases to be announced.
