Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment in talks for merger

This could potentially be a very big deal. Lionsgate Entertainment and Summit Entertainment are currently in early negotiations for a possible merger. There are few details, as these are, again, early negotiations, but this has the potential to be a very big deal. Both Lionsgate and Summit are smaller-scale companies, compared to your Universals and your Disneys, However, consider the fact that Summit owns the entire film version of the Twlight franchise, and Lionsgate owns the entire Hunger Games franchise. I’m not saying Hunger Games is going to take off at the box office the way Twilight did, but they’re popular books, and they’re going to make somewhere around infinity billion dollars. Lionsgate also produces Mad Men, one of the best shows on television that I watch, and Breaking Bad, the best television show on that I don’t watch. Don’t get pissy about it. It’s just a scheduling thing.

There’s no telling how this is going to shake out, but it could have fairly big repercussions in the industry if it winds up going through. These two corporations represent a ton of money, and together, they could make a massive impact.
