If you’ve kept up with the production of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, you know that post-production was a little rough. Extensive reshoots were scheduled during the summer, and Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, the Bourne films) was brought in to supervise new scenes, rework the ending, and make a lot of fixes during post.
Amid all the reworks and reshoots, Alexandre Desplat left the movie. Michael Giacchino stepped in to write the score, but he had a problem: he only had four and a half weeks to write it.
With the film coming out in less than a week, we have our first taste of Giacchino’s score, with excerpts from two pieces below. They are titled “Her Path Is Clear” (most likely the theme for Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso) and “Approach to Eadu” (most likely the theme for approaching Eadu).
Those are pair of rather tense, jumpy, staccato songs. Given, they’re very short excerpt so the themes and melodies don’t have a chance to fully unfold, but I do like what I’m hearing. Really wonder about “Her Path Is Clear” and what that entire piece will sound like.
What do you think? Let us know in the comments. Rogue One is out on December 16th.
