Lizzie McGuire’s creator exits Disney+ reboot

For die-hard Lizzie McGuire fans (like myself) who were excited about the reboot coming to Disney+, it seems 2020 is off to a rough start. The original creator of the hit Disney Channel show Terri Minsky has reportedly stepped down as the showrunner for the new version that was set to hit the streaming service

This does not bode well for the show moving forward. According to a statement made by a Disney spokesperson, they had only filmed TWO episodes before deciding to change direction. Not exactly confidence-inspiring in the production of the show so far.

Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series, After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the series.

This has effectively resulted in production being put on hold until a new showrunner is hired and they can figure their plan out. Why they would want to force the original creator out is beyond me. Lizzie McGuire had such heart to it and was so real and raw and something that we desperately need today. Now, we have no clue when it will premiere on Disney+ and fans are very very worried about its’ future. Hopefully, they can get it together and give it the proper treatment it deserves.
