With the amount of buzz going into Logan and the positive flooding out from it it may be hard to understand why studio execs were nervous about the film. It was a risky movie, but that risk has paid off with Logan pulling in more than $85 million over the weekend. Costing on $100 million to make and pulling in $152.5 million overseas the movie is definitely going to be a hit.
The question now is does Fox continue this practice of R-rated films that push the boundaries of what we think of comic book movies? With Deadpool breaking records last year and X-Men: Apocalypse under performing I think the message for the audience is clear: give us more creativity and less paint-by-numbers.
Or just more Deadpool.
