Originally, it was going to be a Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling joint, but that all fell apart years ago. Then, he of Looks Like Ben Stiller fame, Ken Levine was writing the screenplay. Now, the word is that the studio is looking for new writers to completely retool the movie in order to star a female lead. Bereft of both man and lighthouse, Levine’s usefulness had come to an end.
I hope they find a way to release the film soon. If it’s stuck in development hell after 21 quarterly reports, I believe it has to be executed.
