Episodes from Doctor Who‘s fourth series, once thought lost to time, are coming back with the help of animation.
Older television shows often run the risk of losing their episodes, due to the advent of recording only hitting the mainstream decades later. The fourth season of Doctor Who‘s original run suffered greatly from this – almost the entire season has been lost to time.
However, the audio for the The Macra Terror is entirely intact, and is now being used to create an animated version of this four-part Doctor Who story.
The DVD for this story goes on sale at midnight next Wednesday. There will also be a screening of the four-part series at the BFI next year on March 16.
