When we all heard there was a Love Actually short film sequel coming I think we got a little too excited. The film is here now, and while it is fun to see all these characters again, it’s mostly just a promotional tool for Red Nose Day, a charity that helps children around the world. That’s not a bad thing at all, but it does kind of leave the film lacking a bit.
Everything you wanted to have happen for all of the characters definitely happens. The clips of each person range from endearing (Colin Firth still not speaking Portuguese) to lackluster (Laura Linney’s phone call). It is always charming to see Hugh Grant be charming, but overall I have to say I wish this had a bit more to it. It’s almost too happy.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give to Red Nose Day if you’ve got the spare money. According to all these famous people it’s a really great organization.
