Miles Teller, (Insert righteously upset comment about Oscar-snub here), is everybody’s new favorite Hollywood-wunderkind, and deservedly so. With Whiplash, The Spectacular Now, and out-shining Margot Robbie at the Oscars, he is definitely one to watch. Soon, we’ll be able to do just that in Ruben Fleischer’s new movie, The Life and Times of the Stopwatch Gang.
Based on an article by Josh Dean in The Atavist, the story centres on a group of canadian bank robbers who managed to get away with an estimated $10 million, without ever firing their guns. It’s not clear who Teller will play, but the ensemble of characters in the story are all equally eccentric and potentially perfect for the versatile young actor. I just hope nobody is there to yell at him anymore. Mean man, J.K. Simmons has done enough of that already.
Fleischer’s directorial career is good, if not great. His debut, Zombieland, is by many considered to be one of the funniest and most original takes on the zombie genre in recent years, while Gangster Squad was less favourably received. I still liked the latter however, mostly because it starred Ryan Gosling with a high-pitch voice. There’s no word on a release date as of yet.
