Byzantium is a movie about an 18th century mother and daughter vampire team who find themselves at loggerheads when the daughter falls in love with a young man dying of leukemia and starts questioning mortality and the nature of her existence. Teenagers, eh? That plot in and of itself wouldn’t be worth taking much notice of, but for the fact that the mother and daughter vampires are to be respectively played by Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan, both of whom are magnificent.
If Arterton and Ronan will be bringing the boys to the yard, the film has now added some banana milkshake for the ladies in the form of Sam Riley (Brighton Rock), Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting and the hugely underrated Plunkett & Macleane) and Tom Hollander (Pirates Of The Carribean). All three are terrific actors with charisma to spare, making this the go-to movie for anyone lusting after some English-accented hotness. Suck on THAT, Pattinson!
