With the MCU taking hold on Disney+ with the launch of WandaVision today, Marvel is wasting no time securing actors for its other upcoming projects on the service. The latest bit of news regarding the future of this franchise concerns Moon Knight, one of the shows confirmed back in 2019 at the D23 Expo. With Oscar Isaac lined up to play the titular star, he needs an equally large actor to play his opposite, and Ethan Hawke is seemingly going to fit that bill.
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Hawke would be cast as the villain in this series, but didn’t have many other details to share. It’s uncertain if he’ll play the main antagonist of the series, Bushman, or if he’ll portray one of the lesser-known villains to introduce Moon Knight to a new audience. As far as other casting news is concerned, we also know that May Calaway has been cast, but her role is similarly shrouded in mystery.
I can’t tell if this is a good or bad decision on Marvel’s part, but I do like Ethan Hawke a lot. Anything that can get him into more roles is good news to me. There’s no date for when Moon Knight will rise on Disney+, but it should happen within the next year or two.
