More former X-Men actors sought for Days of Future Past

Ever since Matthew Vaughn left X-Men: Days of Future Past and was replaced by Bryan Singer, there’s been a steady stream of casting news for the film. James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult from X-Men: First Class have all been confirmed to reprise their roles. Also confirmed are previous X-Men stars Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan, while Hugh Jackman is in talks to play Wolverine.

Speculation is that Singer is trying to bring back other former X-Men actors, such as Halle Barry, James Marsden, Ellen Page, Famke Janssen, and Kelsey Grammer. A source with The Hollywood Reporter says that there’s a willingness to participate because of Singer’s involvement. THR also notes that time commitments would likely be brief since these actors would appear in scenes depicting a dystopian alternate future.

Nick and I were wondering how far this OG X-Men casting would go. Are they trying to get Ray Park to return as Toad in order to fulfill an artistic vision? Do they want the same craft services people back because of their life-giving Nutella and banana sandwiches? If you’ve never made one, you’ve never lived.

Nick hopes to see Redneck #1, a bit player from X-Men who made audiences believe that surly rednecks can be surly rednecks. Nick’s also hoping for the return of Greg the Teamster, an essential part of the behind-the-scenes magic. Greg had the power to look at you kind of funny and make wrong assumptions about your personal life. His true mutant ability, however, was his heart of gold. He also smelled like a jar of roasted peanuts.
