Indiana Jones and the Order of the Phoenix is still happening because Disney likes money. The fifth entry in the series will reunite franchise anchors Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. Screenwriter David Koepp was able to provide two definitive details about the movie to Entertainment Weekly: “Harrison plays Indiana Jones, that I can certainly say. And the Shia LaBeouf character is not in the film.”
LaBeouf co-starred in the drecky fourth installment of the series (The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) as Mutt Williams, the son of Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood. He’s basically Poochie, or an extreme, crummy version of Wally Brando from Twin Peaks: The Return. Mutt was not well-liked by fans, and he will not be missed.
You’ll note that even Koepp referred to him as “the Shia LaBeouf character” rather than say that stupid name.
And yet as you can see above, Mutt was not the worst thing about Crystal Skull.
Koepp also told Entertainment Weekly that he and Spielberg are happy with the current script. “In terms of when we would start, I think that’s up to Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Ford.” He added, “Steven just finished shooting The Post… If the stars align, hopefully it’ll be his next film.”
Indiana Jones: Assignment: Miami Beach is currently scheduled for a July 20, 2020 release. Since this is a Disney production of a Lucasfilm property, I assume this Indiana Jones movie will have a fucking Death Star in it.
