You spent an entire afternoon writing your New Year’s Resolutions and most of you have already broken them. It’s okay, though. Just buy looser pants and enjoy all the cheese you want like proper human beings. If you’re into self-actualization through masochism, however, I say keep on keepin’ on, and pick up a wheel of Gloucester for me on your way back from your run.
If last week was a slow week on Netflix Now, this week is a big New Year’s purge, meaning that the Mayans were right. In my best documentaries of 2012 list, I mentioned that How to Survive a Plague was one of the docs I’ve been meaning to see from 2012, and it’s now available to stream. Red Lights with Cillian Murphy and Robert De Niro is also on Watch Instantly, and ditto the moon Nazi flick Iron Sky, Jeff, Who Lives at Home, The Devil Inside, and Todd Solondz’s Dark Horse.
Some classics have been added to Watch instantly in the last week, including Disney’s The Rescuers, Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn, Hondo and El Dorado with John Wayne, and the always awesome Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. There’s also a film called Afghan Luke, which may or may not be a play on Cool Hand Luke. Regardless, I hope the title character in that film also eats a bunch of hard-boiled eggs like a champ. (Full disclosure: I think there should be a hard-boiled egg scene in every movie.)
See what’s new on Netflix Watch Instantly after the cut. We also have some holiday leftovers, and a look at the future in A.D. 2000 — ohh, SWISH!
