This week, Netflix brings us Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance. A quick Google search informs me that Joffrey is actually a prominent ballet company, but that is certainly not the first thing that sprang to mind. I like to imagine that Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance is a Game of Thrones spin-off where young King Joffrey steps into a portal to modern America. Unable to conform to society, Joffrey turns to ballet to channel his violence and sadism into a beautiful outlet, finding that his monstrous nature can somehow bring joy to the world. Then somebody smacks him in the face.
Other than that, there’s Tomboy, one of my favorite films shown at last year’s Los Angeles Film Festival. Everything else looks fairly standard, unfortunately. Netflix was clearly feeling a bit lazy after the long Independence Day weekend.
Hit the jump, and then hit the king!
