Netflix is raising its prices if you want to have access to both streaming video and disc rentals. The movie service is trying to make the argument that you can stick to a cheaper streaming-only option, as though your instant queue has the same breadth of content as Netflix’s physical library. There’s no better way to prove that assertion than looking at what Netflix made available for streaming last week, right? …Right?
If the past week was indicative of how they plan to support the cheaper streaming-only option, I’d say you have reason to be concerned. The Fighter is admittedly a great, Oscar-winning film, but there’s not much else to see. You can watch a few Asian horror films like Ju-on: White Ghost / Black Ghost and Blood. Otherwise, there’s a TV show called Seriously Funny Kids. Yeah, a whole show dedicated to people thinking their offspring are actually good comedy material instead of just being annoying. These are the people who probably bore you to tears with stories of what little Jimmy said the other day that was just so adorable. Thanks, Netflix! This is the kind of content I’ve been waiting for!
Hit the jump to see the rest of the slim pickings. Sigh.
