Netflix Now: Troy Hurtubise is the Man Edition

It’s a really light week on Netflix Now this week. In fact, the only major stuff that pops out are the critically maligned [REC] 3: Genesis, the comedy special Louis CK: Live at the Beacon Theater, and the supposedly pretty good (in a bargain bin way) Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning. Otherwise, not much else, unless Super Cyclone sounds pretty cool to you — and to be fair, the cyclone is super. You can literally count all the new titles on your fingers and toes, especially if you lost two of them in an industrial accident. [UPDATE: For our own Geoffrey Henao, yes, Nobody Walks with Olivia Thirlby is a thing that is new this week too.]

So in the meantime to fill a bit of space, let us all pay tribute to Troy Hurtubise, who is sort of like an earthy, Canadian version of Tony Stark. Hurtubise was inspired by the movie RoboCop to create a protective suit for grizzly bear researchers. One version of the bear armor is pictured above. It’s kinda like Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor and Rocket Red from the Justice League. Hurtubise has also developed combat armor for troops that’s way less cumbersome than the exoskeleton Tom Cruise wears in All You Need is Kill.

Let me just repeat: he was inspired by the movie RoboCop to do something awesome.

After the cut, the handful and footful of new titles on Netflix Watch Instantly, some of Troy Hurtubise’s bear-protection know-how, and a look at how some bears deal with aggressive humans.

New additions to Netflix Watch Instantly apply only to readers in the United States. For those in other parts of the world, your choices may vary.
