If 43 women becoming pregnant and spontaneously giving birth in the course of one day doesn’t get your attention, I’m not sure what will.
Back at the New York Comic Con in October, Netflix delivered a teaser for The Umbrella Academy that got me super pumped. Well, the full trailer does not disappoint and gives adequate reason to circle February 15 on the ol’ calendar when the series debuts.
Yes, there’s a lot to take in here: apocalypses, time travel, super hero Hogwarts, conspiracies, scare tactic sex education, talking monkeys, a 40-year-old man trapped in a boy’s body, 40-year-old Ellen Page who actually is 40 but still looks like a teenager. Then there’s Mary J. Blige playing the all sorts of evil, and it’s a series based on a comic book created by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance.
Yet, once one has absorbed the mishmash of Watchmen meets Harry Potter in the Planet of the Apes, the results are conclusively awesome. Let’s hope that Netflix has invested properly to bring the scale of this story to life properly.
