Social commentary is one of my favorite things in media. A snapshot of the time and place we currently live in, it reveals what the average person is thinking under specific governments or oppression. It’s the best way to physically capture what history books can only explain with stiff prose. Never Rarely Sometimes Always is basically that to a tee.
A film about a girl struggling with getting an abortion and leaving her overly conservative state to do so, it looks like a real heartbreaking film. I’m not exactly sure if it will click with me, but it’s the kind of challenging and difficult subject matter that I love seeing represented on the screen. There’s just something about stepping outside of your comfort zone and confronting truths about this world you may not wish to acknowledge.
If anything about this sounds interesting to you, the film will be opening on March 13, 2020 in select cities. It will get a wide distribution release on April 3, 2020.
