It appears that the Flintstones films are about to get a reboot.
Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, this new Flintstones reboot will, given the duo’s past history, feature inappropriate jokes, awkward situations, and either John C. Reilly or Steve Carell doing voicework for a character.
There’s little to go on at this point, other than the fact that it’ll be a full-length animated feature. The guy that penned The Other Guys and The Campaign, Chris Henchy, will be writing the script.
The entertainment industry has felt really cyclical lately, hasn’t it? First, news broke that Nintendo is rebooting some older Pokemon games, followed by the news of another Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film, now this. I really don’t understand what they’re hoping to accomplish. While the first film was a pretty decent success, and the second did terribly (it only grossed $35 million — the production budget was $83 million). I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see what happens.
