New images from David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis

David Cronenberg’s Freud/Jung film A Dangerous Method comes out later this month, but he’s already been busy with his next movie, Cosmopolis. New images have arisen from his latest literary adaptation, based on the 2003 novel by Don DeLillo. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, and Samantha Morton. The music in the film will be done by Metric in collaboration with Howard Shore, Cronenberg’s go-to composer.

While I haven’t read Cosmopolis — which follows a day in the life of a multimillionaire in Manhattan — I’ve mostly enjoyed the DeLillo I have read: White Noise (no relation to that Michael Keaton movie) and Libra were great, though Americana, his first novel, felt like a warm-up filled with potent but ultimately half-rendered ideas. There’s a copy of DeLillo’s Underworld on my shelf waiting to be read, his 800-page magnum opus having nothing to do with vampires, werewolves, or Kate Beckinsale in tight leather. (I sometimes picture an unwitting lit major renting the Beckinsale Underworld and screaming 10 minutes in, “Where is the f**king baseball?!”)

We’ve got the Cosmopolis pictures in the gallery for you. And if you’d like to learn more about the work of DeLillo and other great American writers such as Thomas Pynchon and Paul Auster, visit your local library.
