New Iron Man 3 photos and poster show off fancy suits

In anticipation of the release of the first trailer for Iron Man 3 on Tuesday, Marvel has just released a couple of very teasing set photos. And by teasing I mean glorious. Just look at that Iron Patriot War Machine photo! It’s so MERICA. In addition to a couple of photos of fancy suits, we have a new glimpse of Tony Stark separated from a powered on suit (wonder what that’s all about?), a very beardy Mandarin, and an awesome teaser poster where Tony’s wearing Iron Gloves (patent pending). 

Kevin Feige also had this to say about the sequel’s plot:

He basically loses all of his toys and is forced to just use his mind to rebuild and to face his biggest enemy…He’s ultimately the engineering superhero. He’s so charming and so flamboyant that sometimes you forget that’s what he is: ‘Hey, kids, learn this stuff and you can maybe build an Iron Man suit.’

And in reference to Tony and The Mandarin: 

A lot of this movie is about characters going back into the shadows for various reasons and characters who have been in the shadows coming out and into the light for the first time. It is Tony who, for various reasons, finds himself receding into the darkness. I don’t mean emotional darkness, I mean literally ducking out of the spotlight. And we’ll see other characters stepping up who have pulled strings from the background, starting to show their hand.

Just like how the first Iron Man kicked off Marvel’s Phase One, Iron Man 3 is set to begin Marvel’s post-Avengers Phase Two and beyond. And from the looks of things, it’s going to be a good beginning. You can check out all of the images and teaser poster in the gallery.
