Here are a collection of new images (mostly showing Clark’s Smallville days) and a disturbingly mis-aligned poster for Man of Steel (which Zack Snyder claims is his most realistic movie he’s ever made). But that’s not the important thing here. What’s important is, following that awesome punchy trailer for Man of Steel, we have some disturbing quotes from producer Charles Roven:
We had the canon that we needed to pay homage to…We need to make sure that Superman comes from Krypton. We weren’t going to change that — those kinds of touchstones. But everything else between those touchstones was fair game.
and Zack Snyder:
We tried not to make him so predictably morally black and white…His inherent goodness is still there, and if you really think about it, you still want him to be right and to make the right choices and to do the right thing. I think that we all hope for that in ourselves, and I think that’s what always has made him a very interesting character. He’s a Christlike figure. There’s no two ways about it.
These quotes coupled with an extremely disturbing rumor floating around (which I’ll go into further later in the week) have me a little worried about Superman. You don’t have to change much about Superman to make him work. Look to the original Christopher Reeve version or even the recent Brandon Routh version to see how a Superman film could work without changing everything about the character. I don’t know anymore man. I just Superman to punch guys real good.
