I’m just going to put this out there: Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite living authors. From his mature work on Sandman and American Gods to the more kid-friendly stuff like Coraline and The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, Gaiman has been able to captivate minds with his seemingly endless imagination.
This summer, Gaiman is returning to the adult fiction scene with his upcoming novel, The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Despite the novel still months away from release, Tom Hanks’ production company, Playtone, is already in talks to acquire the film rights for the novel with Focus Features set to distribute it. Playtone has produced a few films, including last year’s Cloud Atlas, as well as a Gaiman property with the HBO series adaptation of American Gods. Attached to direct is Joe Wright (Anna Karenina, Atonement).
The more Gaiman adaptations, the better!
