So, I mentioned last week that two of my four favorite movies of the year so far came out. Well, apparently, Rango came out on Friday, so that makes three out of four of my favorite movies in one week. Why must you do this to my wallet, Hollywood? Also out last Friday is the Arthur remake, if you’re into that sort of thing.
As for this week, you’ve got an interesting assortment. Limitless looks cool, and I love Bradley Cooper. Take Me Home Tonight was as palatable as most 80’s throwback comedies can be. Tekken (the live-action one) also comes out on DVD finally. I’ve seen it and aside from the usual WTF-ery that video game adaptations usually carry with them, it’s totally watchable. The most exciting release this week, for me at least, is certainly Peep World. The movie has Michael C. Hall, Sarah Silverman, Rainn Wilson, Judy Greer, Kate Mara, and Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation’s ridiculous recurring character Jean-Ralphio). I don’t care if it’s a three-hour period piece about WWI (it’s not), I’ll watch the hell out of it if even half those characters were in it. There’s also some cool stuff out on Blu-ray too, including Amelie, Boyz in the Hood, and a couple new Criterion releases.
As always, the full list of releases is after the jump, and lemme know what you’re picking up this week and if there’s anything I didn’t mention that is worth checking out!
