Man, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star was probably the creepiest movie that came out last year. Not Insidious creepy, of course. Oh no, that would’ve been terrific. Instead, it’s “30-year-old man-child beating his genitals as his three creepy friends cheer him on while watching a porno that turns out to star his parents” creepy. Ugh. And on the other end of the bad movie scale we have Abduction this week also, which features Taylor Lautner running around not turning into a wolf. What a waste!
Conversely, both Dirty Girl and The Ides of March are out this week too. I hope they’re good, or else my wallet will be quite distraught with my choices.
As far as re-releases go, we have the first Criterion releases of 2012 with Traffic and Belle de Jour, as well as regular Blu-ray re-releases of Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, and The Tuskegee Airmen. Pretty packed week!
As always, the full list of releases is below. Lemme know what you’re picking up this week and if there’s anything I didn’t mention that is worth checking out!
