While most folks will be interested in Silver Linings Playbook today (as it earned a bunch of awards and the like), I’ll be trying to find myself a copy of Manborg. We’ve featured a trailer for the film on the site recently and it looks just ridiculous enough to work. On the complete opposite of the spectrum is The Guilt Trip, the middle of road, road trip comedy starring Barbra Streisand and someone else who cares because he’s not Babs. There’s also that one Mark Wahlberg movie, Broken City.
On the re-release front, there’s a whole mess of Star Trek films out on Blu-ray. I assume it’s because they wanted to catch some of Manborg‘s lucrative Borg fans. Wait, what would Borg fans call themselves? Borgies? Borgans? Borgs? Oh I’m sorry, lost my train of thought there. Other re-releases include another Streisand hit, Funny Girl which is probably enjoying lots of Google attention as kids who watch Glee are currently trying to find out what that Funny Girl thing Rachel Berry is auditioning for. Look, it’s how Streisand got her big break and the world found out how talented she was. Ah, so good.
Hit the jump for a list of DVD/Blu-ray releases for the week as well as videos that’ll show how my brain attaches pop culture things to other things.
