By Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds star in Universal Pictures’ Safe House, a movie about neither a house, nor a safe, so I’d say it’s a bit of a misnomer. That being said, I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as long as the story is sound. Safe House is about a CIA rookie operative (Reynolds) who has to watch over a renegade CIA agent (Denzel), when the ill-named “safe house” is attacked by mercenaries. Now the unlikely duo is on the run to try and find out who wants them both dead… So, basically it’s like any other action thriller you’ve ever seen, but it might still be entertaining.
The poster for Safe House is very perplexing to me. I’m guessing what they were going for is that Reynolds is supposed to be leading man material while Denzel is a crazed psychopath who is really intense… It’s the most literal interpretation of the movie that I can think of. Seems like the movie was fed into a computer and this is what it printed out. F-
