Vanity Fair of all places has pulled the big exclusive for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker delivering a detail-filled behind-the-scenes story on the upcoming film that basically the entire franchise is betting on to be really good. The magazine got famed photographer Annie Leibovitz to shoot photos during some filming of the film, and then snap a few more staged ones of the cast just looking awesome.
Things to notice here? Well, the Knights of Ren, Kylo Ren’s elite guard, are back in a bigway for sure. There’s also our first look at Keri Russel’s Zorri Bliss and Richard E. Grant’s Allegiant General Pride. Plus, a killer shot of Poe Dameron sitting in the Millennium Falcon like he owns the joint and doesn’t care that he’s replacing Han Solo. The most badass image is clearly Kylo Ren and Rey duking it out in a storm, but the most intriguing is the prominent shot of Luke Skywalker and R2D2 together. Is this a hint that the’ll be playing a bigger part in the film than just a flashback? That Leibovitz is such a tease.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will release December 20, 2019.
