New teaser trailer for ‘The Boxtrolls’ is cute as heck

The new teaser trailer for Focus Features upcoming film The Boxtrolls dares to be even cuter than the first. In addition to more adorable footage of the trolls, this trailer features new action scenes which show off more of Laika Studio’s impressive stop-motion and CGI. Considering Laika’s track record, having produces such stunning films such as Coraline and ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls’ gorgeous visuals are no surprise.

This new trailer also features CeeLo Green covering the 1950’s ditty “(You’re So Square) Baby, I Don’t Care,” which fits surprisingly well alongside scenes of the trolls slovenly devouring food and Eggs, a human boy that the trolls have adopted, failing to relate to high-society at a fancy party. All and all, The Boxtrolls looks to be an adorable adventure with a lot of strangeness and heart, and I will definitely be watching.

The Boxtrolls‘ official synopsis:

A family event movie from the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised an orphaned human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnifred (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.

The Boxtrolls opens September 26th, 2014
