Amazon has dropped a new trailer ahead of the July 26 release date for their new series The Boys, and it has enough guts and foul language to satiate your inner-edgy teenager.
Based on the comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys revolves around a team of superheroes–The Seven–that are publicly the face of goodness. They save lives, they inspire people. Publicly. The ‘ol superpowers can go to your head pretty quickly, resulting in a squad of dangerous egomaniacs that don’t have to sit for their vegetables if they don’t want to. So who ya gonna call to keep your rogue supers in check? The Boys!
Karl Urban stars as Billy Butcher, the ringleader of The Boys, whicb includes characters with names like Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Kapon). The Seven are led by The Homelander (Antony Starr), a juggernaut of power who looks like what would happen if Captain America’s patriotism and and Superman’s strength were put into the body of a narcissistic psychopath. Fun!
Featuring a talking dolphin, a laser-shooting baby, and a pretty great Spice Girls anecdote, The Boys is looking to be… a lot. Ennis’ terrific series Preacher found success on the small screen over at AMC. Our own Jesse Lab liked that quite a bit, so how will The Boys fare? We don’t have too long to wait, with The Boys hitting Amazon Prime Video on July 26, 2019.
