I figured that it would only be a matter of time before the rich-versus-poor, Most Dangerous Game-ish controversy magnet The Hunt would skulk back into the public consciousness. I have to be honest, though, I wasn’t expecting it to be this soon.
Is this because writer Damon Lindelof had such a hit with The Watchmen that Universal couldn’t ignore the name recognition? Is it perhaps because Parasite‘s massive critical success has proved that class warfare flicks track incredibly well in America right now? Who knows! Either way, I’m happy to see it’s back.
As I stated for the last trailer (now expunged from existence), rich people as monsters is always a hundred percent cool in my book.
The reloaded trailer above, however, leans into The Hunt‘s sense of humor more and creates more ambiguity on the whole rich-liberals-hunting-down-normal-folks angle. Chances are this will lead to some sort of fake news satire. Sounds good for an election year.
However it turns out, we’ll all get to make up our minds about The Hunt when it hits theaters on March 13, 2020.
