Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes is just two months away. The movie didn’t make our most anticipated movies of 2017, which may have been a mistake on our part, or maybe a sign of general iffiness. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was certainly better than expected, but I wonder if this new entry will simply trod upon similar ground.
Man hate ape. Ape hate man. Man go bang. Ape go stab. Big ‘splosion! (You know, when I put it that way, it’s pretty exciting.)
A new trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes was just released today, and that’s pretty much what’s in it. Watch below.
Here’s an official synopsis for the film:
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
In other words: Man hate ape. Ape hate man. Man go bang. Ape go stab. Big ‘splosion! Where money? Give here!
War for the Planet of the Apes comes out July 7th.
