A new report from Variety states that Marvel is developing a new series based around Nick Fury for Disney+ in the future. Legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role from the MCU films and is bound to drop plenty of curse words now that he’s removed from the confines of the MPA system. Up and coming writer Kyle Bradstreet (Alice Isn’t Dead, Mr. Robot) is set to write and executive produce the series with Marvel obviously producing the show.
There’s not a lot of other details related to the project. Nick Fury -if that ends up being the show’s title- is currently in the pre-production phase. I would imagine that Disney and Marvel wouldn’t want to make this a limited series and will likely keep Jackson around for a few years to come. With the smaller scale that TV provides, we could even get some kind of “behind-the-scenes” look at S.H.I.E.L.D. that runs concurrently through the MCU films.
Even without this series, it was unlikely that Jackson was going to leave the role of Nick Fury behind. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Fury is seen on some kind of alien ship that heavily points to the next phase of the MCU introducing S.W.O.R.D. He was bound to show up sooner or later in another project.
