Despite the interest of director David Fincher and lead Rooney Mara, in addition a script having already been written, Mara disappointed fans of Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by confirming the sequel isn’t going ahead. Talking to E Online, she said: “I’m sad never to do it again, but it just doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards.”
This news is mostly surprising to me mostly because I had no idea anyone wanted a sequel in the first place. I assume everyone involved realised that the The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘s title sequence already exists and there’s no need to make another one.
But hey, I’m the guy still hoping for a sequel to 2003’s ahead of its time Dwayne Johnson vehicle The Rundown, so if this news is a bummer to you, then you have my full sympathies.
