[For the month of July, we will be covering the New York Asian Film Festival and the (also New York-based) Japan Cuts Film Festival, which together form one of the largest showcases of Asian cinema in the world. For our NYAFF coverage, head over here. For Japan Cuts, here.]
Obviously you have all read Hubert’s excellent interview with director Chung Chang-Wha, but perhaps you wanted to hear a bit more from him. Perhaps you wanted to actually hear what he sounds like, even though you’ll likely have no idea what he is saying. Well, now you have the chance. At a reception given as part of the NYAFF festivities, director Chung Chang-Wha and pterodactyl Choi Min-sik were asked to give little speeches. Having brought my camera as safety precaution in case something like this happened, I leaped into action and hoped that the speeches would wrap up before my battery died. Fortunately they did, as you can see from the fact that this video is here.
I apologize for the shakiness. People kept bumping into me and the lens I was using lacks image stabilization. If you would like to not have shaky videos anymore, feel free to buy me a tripod.
Also, you will find the official Subway Cinema trailer that is referenced in his speech below.
