From February 27th to March 1st, 92Y Tribeca is hosting a three-night film series to celebrate the 80th birthday of animator Richard Williams. You may know Williams best for his work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit? He was also the subject of Kevin Schreck’s documentary Persistence of Vision, which was one of my favorite documentaries of 2012.
The film series is called Richard Williams: Persistence of Vision. On Wednesday, February 27th there’ll be a 25th anniversary screening of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? in 35mm. On Thursday, February 28th there’ll be a retrospective showcase of Williams’s award-winning short films and commercials. And on Friday, March 1st there’ll be two screenings of Persistence of Vision with Schreck in attendance. Each of the Persistence of Vision screenings will be followed by a discussion with Schreck, the first moderated by Amid Amidi of Cartoon Brew, the second by Drew Taylor of Indiewire.
